This is my first and so far only foray into the world of interactive fiction. I became interested in Twine shortly after learning about the tool and I quickly started working on an interactive fiction based a little on a personal situation I was going through at the time… although I’m quite ashamed to admit it now!
This is essentially a story about a small family living in isolation due to a strange situation that means that everyone in the world now lives in fear of going outside or opening the door to strangers. There is an undetermined threat that confines the people to their tiny apartments, where they spend their days, keeping an eye out for a visit from one of the government rationing programme’s supply deliverers. Verne, the protagonist, will witness a dramatic twist in her uneasy but peaceful life, and must begin a new journey outside the only walls she has ever known.
If you’ve read Cormac McCarthy’s The Road, played Deconstructeam’s Gods Will Be Watching, or watched From (though this is much later than Apartment 613), you’ll find some ideas in common.
You can play it on Itch.io. Feel free to leave any comments on my profile!
If you can read Spanish, I wrote a postmortem of the game on Deus Ex Machina.
